Increase Business with Local Internet Marketing
Online marketing has evolved into an incredibly successful method for increasing business. Thanks to the growing number of consumers who are turning to the World Wide Web to meet their shopping needs, business owners are finding that online marketing is really paying off. One of the most effective forms of online marketing these days is that of local online marketing. Local internet marketing is a fantastic option for several reasons.
First, local online marketing is a phenomenal way to focus marketing efforts on a targeted audience. For example, if you are selling ski boats in Southern Utah, you don’t want to waste money on marketing to people who live in North Carolina. By focusing your marketing efforts in the specific geographical area that your business is located, it will help to eliminate wasted time and money when it comes to advertising.
Second, there are several options for local online marketing that are incredibly inexpensive. The days of over-paying for billboards or radio ads that are only a fraction as successful as various online marketing methods are over. There’s also no way to track your marketing efforts when they are seen on billboards or advertised on the radio. Online marketing, though, has the ability to be tracked and can also end up costing quite a bit less than other marketing alternatives.
Third, when a business owner is able to get people who live in the same geographical area to find their business online, they double their chances of getting a sale. Once a local customer finds them online, the customer has the ability to buy from their online store as well as to drive a few blocks to their retail location. By targeting local consumers who may be interested in your product, you will have more credibility with them and also have much higher chances of keeping them as repeat customers for years and years to come.
The days of advertising in newspapers and billboards are over. The business world has evolved and it’s time to evolve right along with it. Thanks to the incredibly high rate of success that local internet marketing has realized, more and more business owners just like you are jumping on board to target consumers in their geographical area. Those who choose to use this method will undoubtedly find that their business will increase.

Great post! Question for you, how do I get my local business owners to see the benefits of marketing online? How can I communicate the benefits of outsourcing to a virtual marketing assistant?
First, you have to make sure they have an understanding of online marketing, such as ranking in search engines, and what the benefits are. I like to ask business owners about their own online search experiences, and usually they admit they don’t look past the first page and hardly past the top 5. This helps them see why they would want to rank on the first page minimum, but even closer to the top if possible! As far as the benefits specifically, I explain how most consumers research online, then shop locally, and also help them realize how many online searches are done for their industry by showing them some basic keyword research. For example, I’ve done some SEO work for a chiropractor and I did keyword research with a local qualifier, such as his city, and showed him that he was missing out on being exposed to over 6,000 unique searches a month for his services in his city. Even if he were to get one of those 6,000 potential patients, his SEO expenses would be covered, and profit made. Obviously, each industry is different, but that is one example.
Ryan,
I love this post! I think business owners get very confused when it comes to online marketing. They don’t realize the huge benefits of marketing “locally” and even start going down the wrong paths with keyword targeting and such. This is excellent.
