Choose your keywords wisely – they can make or break your campaign

Search Engine OptimizationWith SEO growing and becoming more and more specialist, the importance of good keyword research is more apparent now than ever. Search engine optimisation is being employed by so many online businesses that it’s no longer enough to just target the most relevant keywords. Keyword research is becoming more important, and doing it correctly can mean the difference between a successful SEO campaign, and failure.

Here I want to talk about the importance of being selective over your keywords. The marketplace is too crowded to plough all your effort into optimising the keywords that drive the most traffic, just to get limited results. You now need to be far more selective.

You should be making sure your keywords are evenly balanced across traffic, relevancy and achievability. If your keywords fail on any of these three points then it’s going to hamper your SEO efforts. Why Use SEO if You’re Already Ranking?

Search Engine OptimizationI was inspired to write about this because I had a friend contact me last night and he asked me to look over the website of the company he works for.  He wanted me to evaluate their SEO and give suggestions.  I was rather surprised when I went to their site because this company is a multi-million dollar business in California.  In a matter of seconds of being on the website, I already had at least five things in mind that this company could do to improve their SEO.  Upon further investigation, I discovered they had a lot that could be done, and that their competitors were already implementing SEO strategies.  So I threw together a light SEO site audit, and sent it his way with some commentary.

“I’m already ranking #2.  Why should I pay a SEO thousands of dollars to do work?”
